Vienna Police Officer Andrew Slebonick graduated May 5 from the 61st Session of the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy. The ceremony was held at the Fairfax Community Church, and his graduation culminated six months of training in all aspects of police procedures.
It includes more than 920 hours of instruction in curriculum including 320 hours of academics, 94 hours of firearms training, 84 hours of emergency vehicle operation, 110 hours of physical training and 130 hours of defensive tactics training.
After graduation, Slebonick was assigned a field training instructor for 10 weeks. The instructor observes and guides the new officer’s performance in officer safety, traffic enforcement, citizen interaction, report writing, vehicle-crash investigation and many other law-enforcement duties.
Previously, Slebonick graduated from Old Dominion University with degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology.
