Alexandria City High School Evacuated Due to Bomb Threat

Just before noon on Wednesday, Nov. 1, students and staff at the Alexandria City High School King Street campus were evacuated in response to a bomb threat received by Alexandria City Public Schools. The Alexandria Police Department was on site and working with ACHS administration, ACPS leadership and the ACPS Office of Safety and Security Services, according to Alexander Duncan III, Executive Principal.

Students were evacuated from the King Street Campus to designated areas outside on one of the first chilly days of the school year, and the ACPS Office of Transportation sent buses to the school to provide warming stations for the students. Duncan said administrators had reached out to Episcopal High School to serve as an evacuation site in the event of a prolonged evacuation.

Around noon, an email went out to families asking them not to come to the ACHS, followed by early dismissal of students at 1 p.m. due to the bomb threat.
