Fairfax County Park Authority operates ten farmers markets, and they are opening for the 2025 season. Scott and Laura Morton check out the fresh rosemary at the Reston farmers market.
The Fairfax County Park Authority's farmers markets are opening. On Wednesday, April 16, the McCutcheon/Mount Vernon Farmers Market launched the 2025 farmers market season. The Burke market followed on Saturday, April 19, and the Reston market on Saturday, April 26.
The Fairfax County Park Authority operates ten farmers markets in the region. Mount Vernon, Annandale, Lorton, Reston, and Wakefield are the five markets that accept SNAP.
Remember to bring your bags and receptacles this year. The county's farmers markets will be remembered in 2025 as the year they eliminated plastic bags.
Scott and Laura Morton shopped at the Reston farmers market on Saturday. Scott advocated for reducing plastic consumption to mitigate environmental consequences, particularly in the context of carbon footprints and debris in landfills and oceans.
When asked about the items he and his wife intended to purchase, Scott said, “We saw some asparagus that really caught our eye and some fresh shrimp. We want to do some stir-fry.”
The markets in Annandale and Herndon will open on May 1, while those in McLean and Kingstowne will open on May 2. Lorton will open operations on May 4, and Oakmount and Wakefield will do so on May 7.
